OFW Direct Assistance program provides disabled service members, veterans and their families assistance with unexpected expenses. It is not unusual for our troops and veterans to suffer significant loss of income after injury or during seperation. For some famalies, and error in pay or delays in processing claims can have a devastating life changing impact.
Our Forgotten Warriors full range of services.
K9 companions handled by our troops and veterans deliver safety and security. A little know fact is that there are service dogs trained to protect our troops and veterans who have also been impaired in battle, including those suffering from post-traumatic stress Injury (PTSI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). The service dogs provide companionship, ease from anxiety and depression, and ease panic attacks and real threats of danger. More than that, our four-legged friends function on behalf of the injured veterans: seeing for the blind, and hearing for the hearing impaired. Simply put, the service dogs help their owners cope with, and overcome, challenges in civilian life. Upon request and proper vetting, OFW will help offset expenses associated with owning a service dog, which can be prohibitive - $1,500/ year on average. An OFW beneficiary once asked if he could use a portion of the groceries gift card he was given to help feed his service dog.
Your tax deductible donation will help a veteran in their quest to improve their symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury. Soldier’s Best Friend’s expense to pair, train, and equip a veteran with a shelter dog is approximately $2,500. Your contribution will help directly in our mission.
